Most ESPs now prohibit the user of their platform from affiliate marketing, in Mailchimp’s case suggesting ‘affiliate marketers are generating business for someone else, so there’s no real obligation to maintain relationships with contacts’. I understand the point, in my experience affiliate lists tend to be purchased or passed around, and the quality is poor. Mailchimp may be polite on this point, but the reality is that they simply don’t want potentially bad data being sent through their system.
