Let’s be honest, email coding is stuck in the 90s. It may take some time, but it’s inevitable that there will eventually be a standard for email coding. In much the same way the web has with W3C, email will have a set of rules and guidelines.
With the best intentions from Litmus, they recently started to collaborate with Microsoft to get Outlook in a bid to get them to ‘play ball’ for user experience.
However developers and designers can only do so much and it will ultimately require the top email providers like Google and Microsoft to understand the value email has as an effective marketing channel and to listen and collaborate further with the industry to drive forward change.
